Where I am and what I'm doing...
12:41am Wednesday, 21 Jul 2004

Ok, well I have finished moving to New Orleans and I started my new job with Lockheed on Monday. So far all I have done is fill out paperwork to complete my hiring process, get my badges, and get my accounts made. Hopefully by next week I'll actually be doing some real work. I've been put in the SUN System Administration division, but I think they're actually going to make me work on the Linux stuff (they don't have a dedicated Linux division). If that is the case then I'll be working with their Linux support systems (Mail, DNS, etc) and their Linux visualization clusters. The coolest thing about this job so far is that all of the workstations run RedHat Enterprise Linux. I was afraid that I'd be stuck using a Windows PC at work, but it looks like I've lucked out! Getting up at 6AM is really wearing me down. Hopefully I'll get used to it soon. This weekend I have to finish up the data analysis section of my thesis so I can put it aside and study for comps until September. So anyway, that's what's going on in my life. I'll have the webcam back online soon. Also, if you need my new address or phone number, just drop me an email.

New Job
01:09am Wednesday, 23 Jun 2004

I know I haven't posted lately. That's because these last few weeks have been EXTERMELY busy. In the midst of it all some major changes to my life have occurred. Starting July 19th, I will be a UNIX system administrator/Test engineer for the Lockheed Martin Corporation. I'll be working at the Naval Oceanographic Headquarters in the Stennis Space Center in Mississippi (link here). I'll either be moving to the Mississippi Gulf Coast or the East New Orleans metro area sometime in the next two to three weeks. As for my master's degree, I still plan to finish it by December. I have to take my comprehensive exam in September (and I need to start studying now!) and I have to finish writing my thesis, but I don't have to be on campus anymore because I have finished all of my coursework. I am in the middle of my thesis' data analysis, but I hope to have it finished by the end of the summer. Once that is complete I just have to write a conclusion and then make sure my manuscript follows the Grad School style guidelines. I should be deciding on an apartment sometime in the next 10 days or so, so I'll post another update once that decision is made.

Back from the beach
05:09pm Monday, 5 Apr 2004

Ok, well I'm back from a relaxing Spring Break. I spent the majority of the break in Gulf Shores, with a small stop in Mobile. The weather for the most part was nice. I wish I could have spent a little more time with my family, but I wasn't able to. I shot a roll of film while I was there. I'll try to get it processed and scanned soon. Now it's back to the grindstone. I have to do my thesis data collection in a week. Fun fun fun.

Oh the shame of Usenet archives
07:05pm Tuesday, 14 Oct 2003

So Jeff Robertson had an entry on his weblog recently about embarassing usenet posts. This got me curious as to what terrible things I have posted over the past few years. Here is the list of everything I have posted to usenet (and some mailing lists) sorted by email address:

lfw@earthlink.net
spaff@usa.net
whatl004 at bama dot ua dot edu
lee at bcc dot cba dot ua dot edu

Here's some of the worst ones:
I'm an idiot
I think I'm 31337
I want to be arrested
